Steamed Sticky Dough (Muah Chee) - 麻糍
Muah Chee, a smooth, soft and tasty sticky glutinous rice flour dough coated with roasted peanuts, sesame seeds and sugar, is one of my all-time favorite childhood sweet treats. I never thought of making my own Muah Chee because it is an easily available street-foods. Today, I decided to give it a try and guess what, it turned out to be so gooey!
This humble treat can be found in many Fujianese communities in South East Asia, especially Malaysia and Singapore. As it is a vegetarian food, it is therefore commonly serve during Chinese religious activities in the temple.

~ Steamed Sticky Dough ~
Ingredients:
Coating:
30 g castor sugar
30g sesame seeds
80 g crushed roasted peanuts
Sticky Dough:
250 g glutinous rice flour
3 tbsp castor sugar
375 g water
Methods:
Coating:
1. Mix crushed roasted peanuts, sesame seeds and sugar.
2. Add more sugar if you prefer.
Sticky Dough:
1. Greased some vegetable oil on a cake tin.
2. Bring water to boil in a steamer, and steam the greased cake tin over HIGH heat.
3. Mix glutinous rice flour and sugar together in a large bowl and gradually add water into it.
4. Stir batter till smooth and pour batter into the prepared cake tin.
5. Cover lid and steam over medium low heat for 40 min.
6. Leave cooked sticky dough to cool.
7. Greased a teaspoon with little oil, scoop the sticky dough and drop it to the coating.
